For the

as a measuring instrument for coatings on metal substrates which can
be carried in one hand and is either manually operated or battery powered.
The measurement
principles of such instruments vary but are either magnetic or magnetic
induction for coatings on steel and eddy current for coatings on non-ferrous
metals. There are several subdivisions of the market for coating thickness
