No covermeter will find a second or subsequent layer of steel reinforcement in concrete. Nor will they locate pre-stressing or post tensioning tendons deep inside the concrete beneath the top reinforcement. The Kolectric 8020 Concrete MicroCovermeter is a microprocessor controlled unit weighing only 500g, and is used for the non-destructive checking of steel reinforcement in concrete structures and components, such as precast lintels, staircases and reinforced panels. The 8020 also has Data logging capabilities and is similar to the 8010 with increased features. If bar sizing is critical then the 8020 is the receommended Kolectric unit.
