The Elcometer 4800 and 4900 Free Standing Vacuum Tables provide a flat working surface for the manual application of films onto test charts and samples. When a test chart or film lifts or distorts during application, the drawn-down film thickness becomes uneven and the test result is no longer reliable, so holding the test piece absolutely flat is fundamental to repeatable coatings testing. Please note the Elcometer 4800 has been discontinued.

The range was offered in two formats. The Elcometer 4800 is an aluminium table with a channel around the edge that holds flexible test pieces such as test charts, plastic film and paper absolutely flat, with a variation of 2.3 micrometres over a 100 mm length. The channel version suits thinner materials such as plastics and films that can distort under a perforated bed. The Elcometer 4900 is made of perforated aluminium and holds a wider range of test pieces flat to the same 2.3 micrometres over 100 mm, including glass, plastic sheets and contrast charts, and is suited to thicker, more substantial test pieces. Both versions are built to be five times flatter than glass, and the perforated table offers two sample size settings, 210 x 297 mm and 297 x 420 mm, selected by a switch.

A vacuum pump (KT004930M001) supplies the vacuum. These tables are supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer distributor.
