Privacy Policy

Draft for client review - this is a standard POPIA-aligned template. Before publication BAMR's Information Officer should confirm the two items marked [TO CONFIRM] below: the Information Officer's name and contact details, and the retention periods.

BAMR (Pty) Ltd (“BAMR”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Information we collect

We collect personal information that you provide to us directly - for example when you request a quote, place an order, book a calibration or service, or contact us with an enquiry. This may include your name, company, email address, telephone number and the details of your request.

We may also collect limited technical information automatically when you visit this website, such as your browser type and the pages you view, in order to operate and improve the site.

How we use your information

  • To respond to your enquiries and prepare quotations.
  • To process and fulfil orders, calibrations, repairs and hire.
  • To provide support and to keep you informed about your instruments and their service intervals.
  • To meet our legal, regulatory and accounting obligations.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. We use two kinds:

  • Strictly-necessary cookies that are required for the site to work (for example remembering your cookie choice). These are always on and do not need your consent.
  • Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics 4 that help us understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it. These are only set if you opt in.

When you first visit we ask for your consent to anything beyond strictly-necessary cookies, and we set nothing optional until you agree. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site may then not work as intended.

Google Analytics is operated by Google, so where you opt in, the aggregated usage data it collects may be processed on servers outside South Africa. We rely on Google's contractual data protection terms for this transfer, in line with POPIA's rules on the trans-border flow of personal information.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with trusted service providers who help us operate our business (for example couriers, payment providers and our principals) only to the extent needed to deliver the product or service you have requested, and subject to appropriate confidentiality obligations.

This website also relies on a small number of technology providers who process limited information on our behalf: our hosting and website platform, our email-delivery provider (used to send your enquiry to us), our anti-spam provider (used on the enquiry form), and Google Analytics where you opt in. Each processes only what is needed for that purpose. The website itself stores no personal information in a database; enquiry details are emailed to us and not retained on the site.

Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable, appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access and misuse. We retain personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes set out above or as required by law. [TO CONFIRM: BAMR to state the actual retention periods - for example how long enquiry and quotation records are kept.]

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to request that we correct or delete it, and to object to its processing in certain circumstances. To exercise these rights, please contact our Information Officer using the details below.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa:
