Subsite 950 Pipe and Cable Locating System - Discontinued

The Subsite 950 pipe and cable locator system offers a simple and safe solution to finding and tracing buried services up to a depth of 4.6 metres.

  • Three modes and 20 frequencies Active, Passive, and Beacon modes with 20 frequencies to help quickly locate buried telephone, CATV, power, gas and water lines
  • Active mode 950T and 970T transmit via direct line connection, induction clamp or induced broadcast signals; simultaneous 8 and 29 kHz transmission makes an alternate signal available if one is hard to detect, while higher frequencies help locate metallic lines with insulators that weaken or block low frequencies
  • Passive mode 950R detects signals generated by 31 kHz (CATV) and 50/60 Hz power, as well as re-radiated radio frequencies
  • Beacon mode 950R detects signals from optional beacons to locate non-metallic service lines; with the 512 beacon, the 950R locates blockages within cast-iron pipe
  • Depth capability Locates and traces buried services up to a depth of 4.6 metres

About this product

The Subsite 950 Pipe and Cable Locating System is a transmitter and receiver locator set for finding and tracing buried services up to a depth of 4.6 metres. It is used to identify telephone, CATV, power, gas and water lines before excavation, where striking an unmarked utility risks injury, service damage and costly delays. Please note this product has been discontinued.

The system works across three modes and 20 frequencies. In Active mode the 950T and 970T transmitters apply a signal via direct line connection, induction clamp or induced broadcast; simultaneous 8 and 29 kHz transmission gives an alternate signal when one is hard to detect, while higher frequencies help trace metallic lines with insulators that weaken or block low frequencies. Passive mode lets the 950R receiver detect 31 kHz (CATV) and 50/60 Hz power signals along with re-radiated radio frequencies. Beacon mode detects optional beacons to locate non-metallic lines, and with the 512 beacon the 950R can locate blockages within cast-iron pipe.

The 950R receiver weighs 2 kg, runs on 6 C-cell alkaline batteries for around 50 hours, and uses patented digital signal processing for stable depth readings that do not drift with temperature or time. The two transmitters differ in output: the 950T delivers 3 watts, the 970T delivers 5 watts. The Subsite 950 was supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.

Notes
1. Power mode is used to locate all live cables with sufficient current flow 2. Radio mode is used to locate any metallic service carrying a (VLF) very low frequency signal The 250 has a specifically strong radio mode signal which makes it a very popular model 3. If the Metallic Pipe has a Current then the 150 can detect it in Power Passive mode 4. Active mode is used in conjunction with the Transmitter to locate and trace a specific service. The Transmitter is an Optional Accessory 5. The 950 has a large range of Transmitter frequencies which is used when cables are congested and there is a chance of "bleeding" i.e. current jumping from one cable to another 6. Beacon Mode is used for Non Metallic pipes where you create a signal by inserting the beacon / sonde into the non-metallic pipe e.g asbestos, PVC or plastic The beacon is an optional accessory and needs to be purchased separately Subsite 150 Pipe & Cable Locating System Subsite 250 Pipe & Cable Locating System Subsite 950 Pipe & Cable Locating System
