The TH200 Shore A Digital Portable Hardness Tester (now discontinued) is a pocket-sized durometer used for Shore A hardness testing of softer materials such as rubbers and elastomers. Shore hardness readings tell a manufacturer whether a material is too soft or too hard for its intended use, which is a routine quality control check in production and incoming inspection.

The instrument has an integrated probe and takes readings directly on the sample, displaying them on a bright, clear LCD. It measures across the Shore A range of 0 to 100HA with a result resolution of 0.1 unit, and within 20 to 90HA carries a deviation of plus or minus 1 grade. The display shows the hardness result, the average value, the peak value held by the lock function and a battery indication, and the unit can total tests, record the highest hardness and calculate an average. An RS-232C output sends data to a computer, and the unit shuts off automatically and alarms on low voltage.

Power comes from three V357 batteries giving about 300 hours of continuous use with no cables. The TH200 conforms to DIN 53505, ASTM D 2240 and ISO 7619. An optional operating stand applies a constant, even force to improve accuracy and repeatability. It was supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.
