The Elcometer 115 Stainless Steel Wet Film Combs measure the wet film thickness of a freshly applied coating, supplied with either metric or imperial film thickness markings. Reading thickness while the film is still wet lets an applicator confirm the correct amount of coating is going on, before it cures, which is the practical safeguard against an under- or over-applied film that would otherwise mean stripping back and reapplying once the fault is found dry.

Each comb has 10 measurement steps, or teeth, of stepped lengths. The Elcometer 115 Stainless Steel Wet Film Comb is placed into the wet film and removed, and the wet thickness reads as the value between the highest wet tooth and the lowest dry tooth. Four ranges are available to suit different coatings: 20 to 325µm, 50 to 450µm, 50 to 750µm and 125 to 1250µm, with a set of all four offered together. Accuracy is ±5% of the marked value or 3µm, whichever is greater. The combs are stainless steel for durability and operate manually with no power supply.

They can be used in accordance with ISO 2808-1A, ISO 2808-7B, ASTM D 4414-A, AS/NZS 1580.107.3, BS 3900-C5-7B, NF T30-125, US NAVY PPI 63101-000 and US NAVY NSI 009-32. Used by painters, applicators and coatings inspectors across protective and industrial coating work, they are supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer distributor.
