The Elcometer 995 Coated Thickness Standards are durable, hard wearing reference standards mounted in a protective folder, used to verify the performance of a coating thickness gauge. They are now discontinued. A coating thickness gauge can drift over time, so checking it against a known, certified thickness is the way to confirm that its readings can be trusted before measurements are recorded.

Each standard has an accuracy of plus or minus 2% and is supplied with a Calibration Certificate as standard. Standards are available with either ferrous (F) or non-ferrous (N) substrates to match the substrate being inspected, and each one is individually serial numbered for traceability. They are supplied in a range of thicknesses, for example four piece sets covering zero, 40, 75, 125 and 175µm, or zero, 50, 150, 250 and 500µm, and special thicknesses can be supplied to meet specific needs. A hard wearing film coating extends their working life, and they can be re-certified by Elcometer to meet ISO requirements.

Certificate options include a Certificate of Calibration, issued for fixed calibration equipment and showing readings and traceability, and an Accredited Certificate, a full UKAS traceable certificate issued by an independent calibration laboratory. Used by coating inspectors to check dry film thickness gauges, the Elcometer 995 Coated Thickness Standards are supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.
