About this product

The AZ 7201 Gas Leak Detector is a portable instrument for detecting and measuring combustible gas leaks, covering Natural Gas, Methane (CH4) and Propane (C3H8, also known as LPG). Undetected leaks of these gases create a fire and explosion hazard, so a handheld detector that pinpoints where gas is escaping is used to make spaces safe in both industrial and domestic settings, from waste disposal, livestock farming and coal mining to a kitchen, garage or living room.

A flexible 465mm stainless-steel probe reaches into hard-to-access spots, where a reliable semi-conductor sensor and a built-in discrimination filter help isolate the target gas. A five-level LED indicator shows the severity of a leak, and an earphone jack allows silent operation. The AZ 7201 Gas Leak Detector responds within 10 seconds and warms up within 60 seconds, with auto-calibration on power-up and automatic power-off to preserve battery life. The AZ 7201 Gas Leak Detector runs on 4 x AA batteries or a 9V adaptor and weighs about 120g.

The measuring ranges of the AZ 7201 Gas Leak Detector are 120 to 1920 ppm for methane (sensitivity 1200 ppm) and 40 to 640 ppm for propane (sensitivity 40 ppm). The AZ 7201 Gas Leak Detector operates from -5 to 45 degrees C and is manufactured in an ISO 9001 certified facility. Supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.

Frequently asked questions

What gases does the AZ 7201 detect and measure?

The AZ 7201 detects methane (120-1920 ppm range) and propane (40-640 ppm range). It has a built-in gas discrimination filter to distinguish between gas types.

How quickly does the AZ 7201 respond to a gas leak?

The detector responds within 10 seconds of detecting gas. Allow 60 seconds warm-up time after power-on before the meter is ready for measurement.

What environments is the AZ 7201 designed for?

The detector suits both industrial extraction environments (waste disposal, livestock farming, coal mining) and domestic settings (kitchen, garage, living room).

What power options does the AZ 7201 offer?

The detector runs on four AA batteries or a 9V adaptor, providing flexibility for portable and fixed installations.

Can the AZ 7201 probe reach confined spaces?

The flexible 465 mm probe allows access to tight spaces where leaks are difficult to reach, making it versatile for confined area testing.

What are the operating temperature and humidity limits?

The detector operates from -5°C to 45°C at 5-95% RH. Storage conditions range -20°C to 50°C. Avoid condensation in both operating and storage modes.
