About this product

The AZ 8925 Sound Level Meter is a portable handheld instrument for measuring acoustic noise levels across four ranges from 40 to 130 dB. Excessive noise in workplaces and building services systems can breach occupational exposure limits and signal faults in equipment, so a reliable sound level reading is the basis for both compliance checks and diagnostics.

The AZ 8925 Sound Level Meter measures A-weighted sound from 40 to 130 dB and C-weighted sound from 45 to 130 dB, with weighting switchable to match the measurement task. The AZ 8925 Sound Level Meter works across four digital ranges (40 to 70, 60 to 90, 80 to 110 and 100 to 130 dB) at 0.1 dB resolution, updating every 160 ms, and shows readings on both a digital display and a quasi-analog bar graph that resolves to 1 dB and refreshes every 40 ms. Accuracy is plus or minus 2 dB at 94 dB, 1 kHz. The instrument covers a frequency range of 31.5 Hz to 8 kHz using a 6 mm electret condenser microphone, and supports auto or manual ranging, Max Hold, and fast or slow response. The AZ 8925 Sound Level Meter calibrates against a standard calibrator and provides an analog output of AC 0.707 Vrms at full scale or DC 10 mV/dB.

The AZ 8925 Sound Level Meter is used widely in HVAC and industrial applications. Running on four AAA batteries for around 60 hours, supplied with a windscreen and weighing about 130 g, the AZ 8925 Sound Level Meter is supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 8925 measure both A-weighted and C-weighted sound levels?

Yes. The 8925 measures A-weighted frequencies from 40 to 130 dB and C-weighted from 45 to 130 dB. Your application standard determines which weighting to use.

How quickly does the 8925 respond to changing sound levels?

The digital display updates every 160 milliseconds for precise readings. The quasi-analog bar updates every 40 milliseconds, providing faster visual feedback for dynamic noise sources.

Can I connect the 8925 to a data logger or analysis system?

Yes. The meter outputs AC analogue (0.707 Vrms at full scale) and DC analogue signals (10 mV/dB) for integration with external equipment.

How long do the batteries last?

Battery life is approximately 60 hours with the four included AAA batteries, supporting extended field measurement campaigns without frequent replacement.

What frequency range does the 8925 cover?

The 8925 measures frequencies from 31.5 Hz to 8 kHz using a 6 mm electric condenser microphone.
