Dakota Shear Wave Quick Change Transducers are single element angle beam probes with a threaded tip that lets the angle beam wedge be swapped with minimum delay. The quick change design solves a practical inspection problem: when a job needs different frequencies on the same wedge, or different angles from the same frequency transducer, the operator can change the wedge instead of carrying and re-setting a separate probe for every combination.
The Dakota Shear Wave Quick Change Transducer screws onto wedges of different angles to produce shear wave measurements, and the smaller footprint makes the range of the Dakota Shear Wave Quick Change Transducers suitable for inspecting curved surfaces and hard to reach areas. Probe diameters cover 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch across 1.00MHz, 2.25MHz, 3.50MHz, 5.00MHz and 10.00MHz frequencies, with composite and standard elements and HG, R or S characteristic options. All connect by microdot and suit the FX70, FX71 and FX80 gauges. Used in conjunction with the gauge's trigonometry feature, the Dakota Shear Wave Quick Change Transducer produces shear waves for instrumental flaw detection and lets the gauge calculate flaw location from the beam angle.
Dakota Shear Wave Quick Change Transducers are used by weld and non-destructive testing inspectors across fabrication, structural and pipework inspection, where varied geometry and access make a single fixed-angle probe impractical. The Dakota Shear Wave Quick Change Transducers are supplied in South Africa by BAMR, the country's authorised distributor.
Dakota Shear Wave Quick Change Transducers
Shear Wave Quick Change Transducers are single element transducers with a threaded tip allowing angle beam wedges to be changed with minimum delay. Shear Wave Quick Change Transducers can be used when different frequencies are required using the same wedge, or where different angles are required using the same frequency transducer.

Frequently asked questions
Why choose a Dakota quick change transducer?
The threaded tip allows you to swap angle beam wedges without replacing the transducer. This lets you test different frequencies using the same wedge, or different angles using the same frequency transducer.
Can I change beam angles without buying multiple transducers?
Yes. Swap different angle beam wedges at the threaded tip to change your beam angle whilst keeping the same frequency transducer.
What frequencies are available?
Dakota shear wave quick change transducers are supplied in 1.00 MHz, 2.25 MHz, 3.50 MHz, 5.00 MHz, and 10.00 MHz.
What connector options do these transducers support?
Dakota quick change transducers are compatible with Microdot, FX70, FX71, and FX80 connectors.
What probe materials and damping characteristics are available?
Transducers are offered with standard or composite probe characteristics and HG, R, or S damping options, depending on the model.
