About this product

The Elcometer KARA Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps are a range of pumps for conventional air spray applications, built to supply coating materials onto wood, plastic, metal or ceramics. The Elcometer KARA Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps keep paint homogenous and deliver pulse-free flow at the nozzle, even with fluid hoses up to 30 metres, which matters because inconsistent fluid supply causes pressure fluctuation, spitting and an uneven finish at the spray gun.

The range of the Elcometer KARA Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps covers three models: the Kara 1-30, Kara 1-40 and Kara 1-40A, all running at a 1:1 ratio with a maximum fluid particle size of 0.25 mm and a fluid temperature range of 4.4 to 60 degrees Celsius. The Kara 1-30 delivers up to 30 litres per minute maximum free flow with an output of 80 cc per cycle and an air pressure range of 1 to 6 bar, while the Kara 1-40 and 1-40A deliver up to 40 litres per minute with 165 cc per cycle and a 1 to 7 bar range. The 1-30 and 1-40 pump solvent and water based products; the 1-40A additionally handles abrasive products, with stainless steel seats, balls and PTFE diaphragm. Fluid inlet is 1/2 inch BSP male and outlet 3/8 inch BSP male.

Each Elcometer KARA Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pump includes an anti-pulse chamber with a fluid mesh filter to remove debris before the gun, a fluid regulator, an air pressure regulator for atomising air, and a main system air inlet regulator up to 7 bar. Construction of the Elcometer KARA Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps is stainless steel and aluminium with an aerospace grade aluminium metal on metal change over valve to prevent sticking, and air consumption of 0.28 cfm keeps compressor costs economical. The Elcometer KARA Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pump mounts on a rugged trolley with a hose and gun rack, or can be unbolted to a wall mounted version with suction hose weighing up to 12 kg, with a choice of suction hose or product tank for solvent or waterborne coatings, primers, fillers, stains and lacquers. Several variants are supplied with a Sagola X4100 pressure spray gun. Used in automotive, industrial and marine finishing, and supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer and Sagola distributor.

The Elcometer KARA pumps are a range of air operated double diaphragm pumps for conventional air spray applications. Engineered to supply high-quality coating materials for wood, plastic, metal or ceramics.

Which KARA model should I specify for abrasive coatings?

Only the KARA 1-40A is designed to handle abrasive products. The KARA 1-30 and KARA 1-40 are rated for solvent and water-based products only.

What fluid particle size limit applies to these pumps?

All three models accept a maximum fluid particle size of 0.25mm (10 mils). Filtration may be required if your coating material contains larger particles.

What air pressure do I need to operate these pumps?

The KARA 1-30 operates at 1 to 6 bar with a maximum inlet pressure of 6 bar. The KARA 1-40 and KARA 1-40A both operate at 1 to 7 bar with a maximum inlet pressure of 7 bar.

Can I use these pumps outdoors or in variable temperature conditions?

Yes. Both the fluid and ambient air temperature operating range is 4.4 to 60°C across all models, making them suitable for indoor and outdoor deployments within this range.
