About this product

The Elcometer KARA Double Diaphragm Transfer Pumps are air-operated 1:1 ratio pumps that supply water and solvent based materials smoothly and consistently to spray application points. Steady, pulse-free fluid delivery keeps paint homogenous and feeds the gun without surging, which is what prevents inconsistent film build and supports running long fluid hoses or multiple spray guns from a single source.

The range covers three models. The KARA 30 (PTD130AS) delivers up to 30 litres per minute maximum free flow and uses stainless steel seats and balls with a polyethylene diaphragm. The KARA 40 (PTD140AS) delivers up to 40 lpm with polypropylene seats, PTFE balls and a PTFE diaphragm for water based and solvent materials. The KARA 40A (PTD140AAS) is the abrasive version, fitted with stainless steel balls and seats to suit ceramic based materials. Construction across the range uses aluminium, stainless steel, PTFE and polyamide, with a lightweight anodised aluminium pump housing that is fast to service on site using standard tools.

The pumps handle a maximum fluid particle size of 0.25mm, a fluid temperature range of 4.4 to 60 degrees C, and 1/2 inch BSP male fluid inlet and outlet, with a low pulsing air distribution manifold using metal to metal technology to prevent stalling. The KARA 40 is also available with a 200 litre drum cover (PSD140AS-C) and rotary agitator (PSD140AS-C-RA). Supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer distributor.

Which KARA model can pump abrasive coatings?

The KARA 40A is designed for abrasive, solvent and water-based products. The KARA 30 and KARA 40 are limited to solvent and water-based materials only. Choose the 40A variant if you need to handle abrasive coatings.

What air pressure range do I need to operate the KARA pump?

The KARA 30 operates at 1 to 6 bar. The KARA 40 and KARA 40A operate at 1 to 7 bar. No minimum compressor size is required. Your inlet pressure must not exceed the maximum for your model.

What is the maximum flow rate of the KARA 40?

The KARA 40 delivers a maximum free flow of 40 litres per minute. At 60 cycles per minute, it delivers 10 lpm. The KARA 30 delivers 30 lpm maximum.

What particle size can these pumps handle?

All KARA models accept a maximum fluid particle size of 0.25 mm (10 mils). Filter your material before pumping if it contains larger particles.

What connection sizes do the KARA pumps use?

Fluid inlet and outlet are 1/2 inch BSP male threads. Air inlet is 1/4 inch BSP female. Air exhaust is 1/2 inch BSP female. Anti-static and rubber hose assemblies in various lengths are available as accessories.

What temperature range can the KARA pump handle?

Both the pumped fluid and the ambient air can operate between 4.4 and 60 degrees Celsius. The material composition (stainless steel, PTFE, polyethylene, aluminium) is selected for this range.
