BEVS 2211 Automatic Cross Cutting Tester

SKU · BEVS 2211

The BEVS 2211 Automatic Cross Cutting Tester makes the cross-hatch cuts for coating adhesion tests to ISO 2409 and ASTM D3359 with set load, speed, spacing and angle. It also prepares the scribes needed before salt spray corrosion testing to ISO 17872. Machine cutting removes the uneven or shallow cuts that a hand-held cutter can leave.

When to use the BEVS 2211 Automatic Cross Cutting Tester

Choose the BEVS 2211 when a lab cuts cross-hatch adhesion grids or salt spray scribes on test panels and needs every cut made the same way.

  • 1
Repeatable cross-cut adhesion tests on lab panels
The BEVS 2211 cuts at a set load (2-38 N), speed (2-50 mm/s) and spacing (1-4 mm), so every panel is cut the same way. This avoids the shallow or uneven cuts that a hand cross-cut can give, which matters when comparing coatings or batches to ISO 2409 or ASTM D3359.
  • 2
Scribes for salt spray testing to ISO 17872
With a single-blade cutting head fitted, the BEVS 2211 prepares the scribe lines a panel needs before it goes into a salt spray corrosion test. A lab running both adhesion and corrosion tests can use the same instrument for both.
  • 3
For test panels in the lab, not for coated structures on site
The BEVS 2211 takes panels up to 175 x 85 mm and 0.5 to 20 mm thick, clamped on its platform. To test a coating on a steel structure, a pipe or a large part, use a hand-held cross hatch cutter instead, such as the Elcometer 1542 Cross Hatch Cutter or the BEVS 2213 Hatch Gauge.

Frequently asked questions

What is the BEVS 2211 Automatic Cross Cutting Tester used for?

The BEVS 2211 Automatic Cross Cutting Tester is a bench instrument that makes the cross-cut grid for coating adhesion tests, so the adhesion level of a coating on its substrate can be determined. It also prepares the scribes needed before a salt spray corrosion test.

Which standards does the BEVS 2211 work to?

The datasheet lists ISO 2409:2013, ASTM D3359-17, GB/T 9286-1998 and ISO 17872:2007.

What size of test panel does the BEVS 2211 take?

Panels from 110 to 175 mm long, 50 to 85 mm wide and 0.5 to 20 mm thick. The panel is clamped by hand on the platform.

Which cutting settings can be adjusted on the BEVS 2211?

Load pressure from 2 to 38 N (shown on the digital display), cross-cut angle from 30 to 90°, line spacing from 1 to 4 mm, 1 to 20 grids, speed from 2 to 50 mm/s and stroke length from 40 to 65 mm. Cross-cut programs can be set and saved.

Can the BEVS 2211 use different cutting heads?

Yes. The BEVS 2211 takes both single-blade and multi-blade cross cutting heads, for adhesion panels and for salt spray corrosion panels.

What power supply and bench space does the BEVS 2211 need?

The BEVS 2211 runs on 110 V or 220 V, 50/60 Hz, and draws 450 W. The machine measures 610 x 340 x 470 mm (L x W x H).
