The Elcometer 107 Cross Hatch Cutter is a hand-held adhesion tester that cuts a grid pattern through a coating to give an instant assessment of how well it is bonded to the substrate. A cross-hatch test is a fast field or laboratory check: by scoring the coating into a lattice and inspecting how much detaches at the cut edges, an inspector can grade adhesion quickly and decide whether a finish is sound or at risk of flaking and failure.
The Elcometer 107 Cross Hatch Cutter has a rugged handle with a large non-slip grip and a quick-change, four-sided cutter that lets a single instrument cover a wide range of coating thicknesses. Cutters are matched to film thickness and substrate hardness: a 6 x 1mm cutter handles coatings up to 60µm, an 11 x 1mm cutter suits metal coatings up to 50µm, and an 11 x 1.5mm cutter extends to around 90µm, with 2mm and 3mm tooth spacings available for thicker films. The Elcometer 107 Cross Hatch Cutter is sold as a Basic Kit or as a Full Kit supplied with either ISO or ASTM adhesive tape.
The Elcometer 107 Cross Hatch Cutter can be used in accordance with AS 3894.9, AS 1580.408.4, ASTM D 3359-B, BS 3900-E6, ECCA T6, EN 13523-6, ISO 2409, ISO 16276-2, JIS K 5600-5-6 and NF T30-038, the principal cross-cut adhesion standards. Suited to thin, thick or hard coatings on coil, steel and other surfaces, the Elcometer 107 Cross Hatch Cutter is used by coatings inspectors and quality teams. It is supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer distributor.

What coating thickness ranges does the Elcometer 107 cover?
The 107 is available in several cutter configurations covering up to 250 microns. The 6x1mm covers 0 to 60 microns, the 6x2mm covers 50 to 125 microns, and the 6x3mm covers 121 to 250 microns. The 11x1mm and 11x1.5mm variants cover 0 to 50 and 0 to 90 microns respectively.
What is the difference between a Basic Kit and a Full Kit?
A Basic Kit is the cutter only. A Full Kit adds adhesion test tape, supplied as either ISO or ASTM tape depending on the variant ordered. Both kit types are available with an optional certificate.
