The Protimeter HygroMaster 2 (BLD7750 and BLD7751) is a handheld hygrometer for measuring ambient relative humidity, temperature and related psychrometric values, with non-contact infra-red surface temperature included. The Protimeter HygroMaster 2 is used to record the climatic conditions that govern whether surfaces are fit to coat and whether buildings are drying correctly.
Climatic conditions determine the outcome of a coating job: if surface temperature, relative humidity and dewpoint are wrong, paint and protective coatings fail to cure or adhere, and trapped moisture in a building leads to ongoing damage. The Protimeter HygroMaster 2 measures relative humidity and temperature and performs the psychrometric calculations needed to assess these conditions, so applicators and surveyors can decide when to proceed.
Humidity and temperature response is fast, and the sensor stick is replaceable. With the Hygrostick fitted, accuracy of the Protimeter HygroMaster 2 is +/-3% RH across 30% to 40% RH and +/-2% RH across 41% to 98% RH at 20°C. The plug-in surface temperature probe (BLD5805) covers 0°C to 70°C with +/-0.7°C accuracy at 25°C, while the 12:1 infra-red sensor reads -20°C to 80°C at +/-2°C. Results show on a colour LCD, and the Protimeter HygroMaster 2 stores up to 8,000 time-stamped readings or 6,100 with automatic logging.
