The Elcometer 3233 Pfund Thickness Gauge measures the film thickness of wet translucent products such as varnishes, paints and oils, where conventional wet film combs and wheels are difficult to read on a clear or near-clear film.

Translucent coatings give little visual contrast on a standard gauge, so a different method is needed to confirm the wet film has been applied at the right thickness before it cures. The Elcometer 3233 Pfund Thickness Gauge consists of two concentric cylinders, one sliding inside the other, with a spherical glass lens fitted to the end of the central cylinder. Pressed into the wet film, the lens leaves a circular trace. The diameter of that mark is measured against the supplied stainless steel rule, and the coating thickness is read from the supplied conversion table. The Elcometer 3233 Pfund Thickness Gauge covers a measurement range of 2.25 to 360 microns.

The Elcometer 3233 Pfund Thickness Gauge is available in two materials: an aluminium version (part number K0003233M001) and a stainless steel version (K0003233M002). Each measures 60 x 80mm and weighs 195g, and is supplied with the stainless steel rule, conversion table, storage case and operating instructions.

The Elcometer 3233 Pfund Thickness Gauge can be used in accordance with ASTM D 1212-D and NF T30-125, the recognised wet film thickness standards. It is supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer distributor.
