The Elcometer Fitz Atlas of Coating Defects (EFA) is a reference manual that takes the reader through a comprehensive range of coating problems and discusses each in detail. It helps inspectors, applicators and coating specifiers correctly identify a defect, understand its probable cause and find possible solutions, which is the difference between fixing the real source of a failure and repeating it on the next job.

With over 180 colour photographs, the Elcometer Fitz Atlas lets the user quickly gain insight into the coatings industry and the pitfalls that lead to failure. Its sections cover welding faults, including welds, cracks, surface porosity and undercut; surface conditions such as surface preparation, oil contamination and skip weld; and coatings defects, with a comprehensive list including blistering, bloom, chalking, cracking, erosion, fish eyes and orange peel. Further sections address microscopy, covering blisters, bubbles, delamination, pinholes, voids and weed fouling, and marine fouling, covering animal fouling, barnacles, molluscs and weed or algae fouling.

The Elcometer Fitz Atlas measures 223 x 220 x 70mm and weighs 0.45kg, making it practical to keep on site or in the inspection office.
