The Elcometer Automotive Inspection Kit was produced specifically for the automotive aftermarket and for insurance assessors, third party consultants, body shops and used car sales, where confirming whether a panel has been resprayed or filled is central to valuing a vehicle or judging repair quality.
Coating thickness readings reveal repairs that are invisible to the eye: a panel that has been refinished or filled will show a different thickness from the factory finish, so the Elcometer Automotive Inspection Kit lets an assessor verify originality and the standard of previous bodywork on the spot. Measurement parameters include coating thickness, surface temperature and surface inspection, and an illuminated magnifier is supplied to enable close inspection of the bodywork. The individual instruments of the Elcometer Automotive Inspection Kit can also be used in accordance with many other tests.
The Elcometer Automotive Inspection Kit measures 310 x 260 x 80mm and weighs 1kg for Kit 1 and 1.5kg for Kit 2, the heavier kit adding a digital laser thermometer. Compact and case-housed, the Elcometer Automotive Inspection Kit suits field inspection at dealerships, workshops and accident assessments. It is supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor of Elcometer instruments.
