The Elcometer Qualicoat Powder Coating Inspection Kit (part numbers YKITQUALICOAT-1B for the Basic kit and YKITQUALICOAT-1T for the Top kit) is a packaged set of test instruments assembled to meet the inspection requirements of the Qualicoat quality label for powder coatings on architectural aluminium. Qualicoat brings together the ideals of several national coating associations into a single quality label and sets the minimum standard that plant installations, coating materials and finished powder coated products must meet. To hold that label, applicators must carry out a defined range of quality control checks, and this kit provides the instrumentation to do so.

The kit covers appearance, oven temperature, impact and deformation, coating thickness, hardness and adhesion. Instruments include the Elcometer 480 statistical glossmeter at 60 degrees, the Elcometer 1506 mandrel bend tester with 5mm and 8mm mandrels, the Elcometer 1615 impact tester base unit and tube assembly with Kit B, the Elcometer 1620 manual cupping tester with digital gauge and the Elcometer 215 oven data logger and kit. Coating thickness is measured with the Elcometer 415 integral gauge for smooth surfaces in the Basic kit, and the Elcometer 456 separate digital gauge in the Top kit.

The Elcometer Qualicoat Powder Coating Inspection Kit's impact and cupping testing can be used in accordance with ISO 6272/2 and BS 6496. The Basic kit suits core compliance checks, while the Top kit adds the separate digital coating thickness gauge for greater flexibility.
