The MultiScanner Pro SL Stud Locator is a hand-held wall scanner that finds studs, metal and live AC wiring behind walls, floors and ceilings. It solves the problem of drilling or fixing blind: locating a stud or joist for a secure fixing, and confirming there is no pipe, conduit or hot wire in the path before a drill goes in. The Spot Lite Pointing System projects a bright beam of light directly over a detected edge so the target can be marked accurately.

The scanner uses a patented sensor to pinpoint the edges of wood or metal studs. In Stud Scan mode it locates studs to a depth of up to 19mm. A DeepScan mode reaches further into the wall, and Metal Scan mode finds metal at depth, typically within 13mm position accuracy, including rebar in concrete up to 76mm deep and copper or metal conduit up to 38mm deep. Switching off the wood and metal scan leaves AC scanning active to trace hot wires, even in plastic conduit. On-screen graphics and an audio signal indicate target edges on a large LCD.

The MultiScanner Pro SL Stud Locator measures 162 x 78 x 34mm and weighs 184g without its 9V alkaline battery, which is not included. It operates from 7 to 49 degrees C with humidity up to 80 percent RH non-condensing, and is splash and water resistant but not waterproof.
