The TIME Crack Depth Gauge TC200 measures the depth of cracks in concrete without breaking out the structure, using the principle of acoustic diffraction. Knowing how deep a crack runs tells an engineer whether it is surface crazing or a structural concern that needs repair, which is a key decision in assessing the condition and safety of concrete elements.
The TIME Crack Depth Gauge TC200 is a non-destructive test instrument that also measures the propagation velocity of an ultrasonic wave through concrete. A special bracket holds the two measuring points at a fixed, accurate spacing, and the unit gives a direct digital read-out of the crack depth so there is no manual interpretation. An onboard database stores and manages completed test data for analysis and reporting, with an RS232 interface to a PC. The display is shown entirely in English for clear, easy use.
The testing range is 4 to 500mm. Tolerance is within 5mm for cracks shallower than 50mm, and within 10 percent of the crack depth for cracks deeper than 50mm. It stores up to 25000 test records on a large graphic display, runs on six AA batteries and operates from minus 10 to 40 degrees C. The unit measures 210 x 153 x 90mm and weighs 880g. Used in concrete testing and structural assessment, it is supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.
TIME Crack Depth Gauge TC200

Frequently asked questions
What range of crack depths does the TC200 measure?
The TC200 measures concrete crack depths from 4 mm to 500 mm using acoustic diffraction. It also measures ultrasonic wave propagation velocity in concrete.
What are the accuracy limits?
Tolerance is ≤5 mm for cracks under 50 mm deep, and ≤10% of the measured depth for cracks deeper than 50 mm.
How many measurements can the TC200 store?
The TC200 stores up to 25,000 test results in memory, enabling extended site surveys and batch reporting without manual data transfer.
What are the operating temperature and humidity limits?
The TC200 operates in temperatures from minus 10°C to 40°C and humidity below 90%. Verify that your site conditions fall within these ranges.
Is the TC200 portable for field surveys?
The TC200 weighs 880 g and measures 210 x 153 x 90 mm, making it hand-held and portable. The large graphic display shows measurements on-site.
