The TIME TH5104 Portable Digital Hardness Tester (part number TH5104) is an integrated Leeb hardness tester that combines the special DL impact device and a data processor in a single handheld unit. It is suitable for testing the hardness of all metals across a wide measuring range.
Hardness is a key indicator of a metal component's strength and wear resistance, but many parts cannot be moved to a bench tester or have features that a standard probe cannot reach. The TH5104's needle front section, 4mm in diameter and 50mm long, lets it measure in extremely confined spaces, the base of grooves and special components such as gear wheels, where a conventional impact device would not fit.
The tester reads on the HLDL scale and automatically converts to Vickers (HV), Rockwell (HRC, HRB), Brinell (HB) and Shore (HS) values for steel and cast steel, with an accuracy of plus or minus 12HLD at 760 plus or minus 30HLD and a maximum workpiece hardness of 960HLD. The minimum workpiece surface roughness is 1.6μm Ra and the minimum thickness of hardened layers is 0.8mm. It stores 270 average readings across 9 group files, displays and prints in real time or batch mode, and runs for 8 hours without backlight on AAA batteries. The unit measures 215 x 60 x 25mm at 180g, with the full kit in its case weighing 4.365kg.
Used in manufacturing, maintenance and quality control of metal parts, the TH5104 is supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.
