The Elcometer 1506 Cylindrical Mandrel Bend Tester (K1506M201) is a bench bend tester used to determine the elasticity, adhesion and elongation properties of cured coatings on sheet metal.

A coating that cracks or detaches when its substrate is bent will fail in service wherever the part is formed or flexed, so manufacturers and coating laboratories need a repeatable way to bend a coated panel over a known radius and inspect the result. The Elcometer 1506 Cylindrical Mandrel Bend Tester does this with a bending lever carrying height-adjustable rollers and a sliding vice that clamps the sample, so test pieces are bent regularly over progressively smaller mandrels until cracking or loss of adhesion is observed.

The Elcometer 1506 Cylindrical Mandrel Bend Tester adjusts to the diameter of the mandrel in use, and mandrels change easily. A wide range of metric and imperial mandrel diameters is available for the Elcometer 1506 Cylindrical Mandrel Bend Tester, ordered as a set or individually; mandrels are not supplied with the instrument. The Elcometer 1506 Cylindrical Mandrel Bend Tester accepts test pieces up to 64mm wide and 80 to 100mm long depending on the mandrel size, measures 320 x 135 x 130mm and weighs 4.3kg.

The Elcometer 1506 Cylindrical Mandrel Bend Tester conforms to AS/NZS 1580.402.1, ASTM D 2485, ASTM D 522-B, ASTM D 1737, ISO 1519-2 and JIS K 5600-5-1, so results can be reported against recognised methods.
