About this product

The Elcometer 4695 Display Charts / Spreading Rate are Leneta test charts used in coatings laboratories to assess film opacity and hiding power by drawdown or brushout. Made from naturally bright, non-fluorescent white paper, they contain no optical brighteners that would otherwise skew instrumental colour measurements, which matters when a hiding or spreading-rate result has to be objective and repeatable.

The display charts use time-tested diagonally striped black and white patterns that emphasise variations in film opacity with strong visual impact, making them suited to hiding power display work. The Spreading Rate charts (Form 8H) are accurately 0.1 square metres in area (approximately one square foot) and are used in brushout hiding tests at specified spreading rates as described in ASTM Method D 344. The charts can be used with the Elcometer 4340 Motorised Film Applicator for consistent film application.

Two sizes are supplied: the 8B chart at 194 x 289mm (250 per box, four boxes per case) and the larger 8H chart at 286 x 438mm (125 per box, four boxes per case), available by box or case. They can be used in accordance with AS/NZS 1580.213.1, ASTM D 344, ASTM D2805, ASTM D 2486, ASTM D 5150, ASTM D 6441, BS 3900-D4, DIN 53162-2, FTMS 141 4121 and ISO 2814. Supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer distributor.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the paper made without optical brighteners?

Optical brighteners can skew instrumental colour measurements. These Leneta charts use naturally bright, non-fluorescent white paper so your colour measurement instruments read accurately without interference from the paper itself.

What are the differences between the Chart 8B and Chart 8H?

The Chart 8B measures 194 by 289 mm with 250 charts per box, whilst the Chart 8H is larger at 286 by 438 mm with 125 charts per box. Choose 8B for compact test setups or 8H for larger inspection workflows.

How many charts do I get per case?

Each model is packed four boxes to a case. Chart 8B cases contain 1,000 charts (4 boxes of 250), and Chart 8H cases contain 500 charts (4 boxes of 125).

Which part numbers do I need to order?

For Chart 8B, order K0004695M022 (individual box) or K0004695M222 (case of four boxes). For Chart 8H, order K0004695M023 (individual box) or K0004695M223 (case of four boxes).

What is the paper composition?

The charts are made from naturally bright, non-fluorescent white paper with no optical brighteners. This ensures clean, uncoloured reference surfaces for colour measurement and coating inspection work.
