The Elcometer 4695 Metopac Metal Test Panels (part numbers K0004695M094, K0004695M294, K0004695M095 and K0004695M295) are painted steel panels used for measuring the hiding power of powder coatings and industrial enamels. They are available in half black/half white and all black versions.

Hiding power governs whether a coating obscures the substrate at its intended film thickness, which for powder coatings and enamels affects coverage, the number of coats required and the consistency of the finish. The contrast between black and white areas on the Elcometer 4695 Metopac™ Metal Test Panel makes it possible to judge how completely an applied film hides what lies beneath it, while the rigid steel substrate suits the higher cure temperatures and thicker films typical of these coatings.

The two surfaces are controlled to defined reflectance values measured according to ASTM Method E1347. The black surface is solvent resistant, non-bleeding and reflective, with reflectance of 1% maximum. The white surface is solvent resistant, colour retentive and reflective, with reflectance of 80% minimum. The smaller panel measures 76 x 132 mm and is supplied 125 per box (3.63 kg), 4 boxes per case; the larger panel measures 132 x 279 mm and is supplied 50 per box (1.81 kg), 4 boxes per case. The panels can be used with the Elcometer 4340 Motorised Film Applicator.

They can be used in accordance with AS/NZS 1580.213.1, ASTM D344, ASTM D2805, ASTM D2486, ASTM D5150, ASTM D6441, BS 3900-D4, DIN 53162-2, FTMS 141 4121 and ISO 2814. The Elcometer 4695 Metopac Metal Test Panels are supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer distributor.
