The Elcometer 6910/2 Setaflash 'Series 3' Open Cup Tester (part number K0006910M011) is a portable flash point instrument that determines the open cup flash point of a sample across a temperature range of ambient to 300 degrees C. Flash point is the lowest temperature at which a liquid releases enough vapour to ignite, and establishing it accurately governs how a product is classified, handled and shipped, so a fast result keeps both safety decisions and laboratory throughput on track.
Each test uses a small 2ml sample, with the result reached in around 1 minute for flash points up to 100 degrees C and 2 minutes for flash points above 100 degrees C. Audible and on-screen prompts guide the operator and signal when a flash occurs. Temperature is measured to 0.5 degrees C resolution and 0.5 degrees C accuracy, and the cup is blackened aluminium.
