The Elcometer NDT CG100ABDL+ Corrosion Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge (part number CG100ABDL) is a handheld ultrasonic gauge that measures material thickness and detects corrosion across a full range of measurement modes, with a high-contrast colour display for instant measurement response. The Elcometer NDT CG100ABDL+ Corrosion Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge serves inspectors who need to match the measurement method to the material and condition being tested.
Internal corrosion thins the walls of pipes, tanks and structural steel where it cannot be seen, so verifying remaining wall thickness is what keeps assets in service safely. The Elcometer NDT CG100ABDL+ Corrosion Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge offers Pulse-Echo (PE), Temperature Compensation (PETP), Echo-Echo ThruPaint (EE), EEV, Coating Only (CT) and Pulse-Echo Coating (PECT) modes, reading true metal thickness through paint or measuring coating and substrate together. Automatic gain control eases set-up, while manual gain from minus 30dB to 70dB and time corrected gain compensate for sound attenuation in awkward materials. Three adjustable gates and threshold control let the user bypass surface echoes and noise.
The PE measuring range of the Elcometer NDT CG100ABDL+ Corrosion Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge is 0.63 to 508mm, with accuracy of plus or minus 0.01mm, 0.01mm resolution and a velocity calibration range of 1250 to 9,999m/s. Scan mode runs at 32 readings per second. The quarter-VGA AMOLED colour display refreshes at 120Hz for an immediate reading. The Elcometer NDT CG100ABDL+ Corrosion Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge stores up to 16,000 readings with waveforms across 6 factory and 64 user-definable setups, with bi-directional RS232 output to ElcoMaster software via the supplied USB cable. The Elcometer NDT CG100ABDL+ Corrosion Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge uses a dual element transducer at 1 to 10MHz. The CG100ABDL+ is supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer distributor.

Frequently asked questions
What measurement modes does the CG100ABDL support?
The gauge offers PE and PETP (temperature-compensated) for material thickness, EE (ThruPaint) for through-paint measurement, EEV, CT for coating-only, and PECT for simultaneous coating and material measurement.
Can I measure material thickness through an existing coating?
Yes. Use PECT mode to measure both coating (0.01 to 2.54mm) and underlying material (0.63 to 508mm) simultaneously, or use EE (ThruPaint) mode for measurements up to 102mm through paint.
What accuracy and resolution does the CG100ABDL provide?
Measurement accuracy is plus or minus 0.01mm with resolution of 0.01mm. The gauge features adjustable gain (110dB range) and three fully adjustable gates for precision reading.
Can I store measurement data on the device?
Yes. The gauge logs up to 8,000 readings with A-scan and B-scan images plus settings, or up to 210,000 records for coating and material thickness with sequential and grid logging and alphanumeric batch identification.
Is the CG100ABDL waterproof for field work?
Yes. It features an aluminium case with gasket-sealed end caps and a waterproof membrane keypad, designed for operation in wet conditions. Battery life is approximately 25 hours on three AA alkaline batteries.
What measurement rates does the CG100ABDL achieve?
Manual mode delivers 4 readings per second, scan mode 32 readings per second, and scan bar display mode 6 readings per second, with a 120Hz display refresh rate.
