About this product

Dakota Single Element Contact Transducers are the common 0 degree longitudinal-wave probes used in direct contact with the part being inspected, and are suited to large components of simple geometry. A single element contact transducer sends and receives on one crystal, making it a straightforward choice for through-thickness measurement and flaw detection where access and surface conditions allow direct coupling.

The range is offered in several configurations to match the inspection. High wear probes resist abrasion on rough surfaces, fingertip and slim fingertip styles reach difficult-to-access areas, membrane probes suit irregular surfaces, and high penetration probes are available for thicker or more attenuative materials. Frequencies cover 500 kHz, 1.00, 2.25, 3.50, 5.00, 10.00, 15.00 and 20.00 MHz, with probe diameters from 1/8 inch to 1 inch.

Damping is identified by code: M for medium, S for standard undamped, R for resolution, H for highly damped and HG for high gain damping, allowing penetration and resolution to be balanced for the job. Connectors are available in Microdot, Lemo and BNC, and the probes are compatible with Dakota PZX, PMX, PMX4, FX70 and FX80 instruments. With the choice of frequency, diameter, characteristic, damping and connector, the correct probe can be matched to the material and access required. Single Element Contact transducers are longitudinal wave transducers that are designed to be used in direct contact with the part or component being inspected. They are available in multiple configurations, including high wear, fingertip for difficult-to-access areas and membrane in a variety of frequencies.
