About this product

Dakota Transducer Wedges convert Shear Wave Standard Transducers and Shear Wave Quick Change Transducers into angle-beam probes, available at 45, 60 and 70 degrees. Angle-beam inspection directs sound into the material at a controlled angle, which is how inspectors examine welds and detect flaws that a straight 0 degree beam would miss, and the Dakota Transducer Wedge is what sets and holds that angle.

The Dakota Transducer Wedge attaches in one of two ways. Wedges for the Shear Wave Standard Transducers are fixed to the transducer with two screws, while the quick change wedges for the Shear Wave Quick Change Transducers are threaded for fast changeover. Fitting a Dakota Transducer Wedge lets the transducer produce shear waves and feeds the chosen angle into the gauge's trigonometry function for calculating flaw position and depth.

The range of the Dakota Transducer Wedges covers standard transducer wedges in probe sizes from 1/2 x 1/2 inch to 5/8 x 5/8 inch, snail transducer wedges that meet American Welding Society standards, standard quick change wedges from 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch, serrated square wedges, and quick change prove-up wedges, each offered at 45, 60 and 70 degrees. The full set of part numbers allows the Dakota Transducer Wedge to be matched to the transducer type, probe diameter and inspection angle required. Supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Dakota distributor.

Transducer Wedges are designed for use with the Shear Wave Standard Transducers and Shear Wave Quick Change Transducers.

  • Fixed attachment for standard transducers The transducer wedges for the Shear Wave Standard Transducers are fixed to the transducer with two screws.
  • Threaded attachment for quick change transducers The quick change wedges for the Shear Wave Quick Change Transducers are threaded.
  • Angle beam capability The transducer wedges increase the versatility of the transducer enabling it to become an angle transducer of 45 degrees, 60 degrees or 70 degrees.
  • Shear wave production This allows the transducer to produce shear waves and can be used with the Trigonometry function of the gauge.
