The Astro Blast Helmet, also known as the Astro Respirator, is a flat lens supplied-air blasting helmet that protects an operator's head, face, neck and eyes during abrasive blasting. Abrasive blasting generates high-velocity media and airborne dust, so the operator needs both respiratory protection from clean supplied air and physical protection across the exposed areas of the head, which is what the Astro Blast Helmet provides.
The classic flat lens design of the Astro Blast Helmet keeps lifetime maintenance and part replacement costs low. A secure but easy-to-remove cape attachment allows quick cape changes, a flexible breathing tube aids unobstructed head movement, and a soft neck seal with a durable nylon cape gives a comfortable seal around the neck. The head suspension is removable for quick cleaning, and the Astro Blast Helmet runs on supplied air (SAR). The Astro Blast Helmet includes eye protection and a bump cap, with cape options in nylon and leather, and a protection factor rated APF 1000+ / APF 40 / NPF500 / 4B.
The Astro Blast Helmet is built in an ISO 9001 facility and conforms to NIOSH (SAR Type C), CE/UKCA EN14594:2005 4B, AS/NZS 1716:2012 and PPE Regulations (EU and UK) 2016/425, the standards governing supplied-air respiratory protective equipment. Note that the Astro Respirator has been discontinued. Supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.
