The TIME HP-300 Gloss Meter is a portable 60 degree gloss meter used for quality control during coating inspection and product manufacturing. Gloss is a measurable property of a finish, and a surface that reads outside the agreed gloss range signals a problem with the coating, the substrate or the application, so an objective number replaces subjective judgement by eye.
The TIME HP-300 Gloss Meter measures at a single 60 degree angle, which covers the range needed to read both high-gloss and matte surfaces. The TIME HP-300 Gloss Meter reads across a Gs(60) range of 0.0 to 120 and 120 to 1200 over a measuring area of 9 x 15mm, with a resolution of 0.1 and 1 GU, a repeatability of 0.2 GU and 0.2 percent, and a reading accuracy within plus or minus 1.5 GU and plus or minus 1.5 percent. The TIME HP-300 Gloss Meter calibrates automatically and computes statistics including maximum, minimum, mean, standard deviation and coefficient of variation.
Mass storage holds 1000 groups of measurement data, with low-battery and low-storage alarms, and readings transfer to data software by Bluetooth or a mobile memory card. The TIME HP-300 Gloss Meter measures 164 x 60 x 89mm, weighs 520g, runs on AAA batteries or a power supply cable and operates from minus 10 to 70 degrees C, below 85 percent humidity non-condensing. Supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.

Frequently asked questions
What range does the HP-300 cover?
The HP-300 has two measurement ranges: 0-120 GU for standard coatings and 120-1200 GU for very high-gloss surfaces, selectable to suit your coating type.
What measuring angle does the HP-300 use?
The HP-300 uses a 60-degree measuring angle (Gs 60°), the standard for industrial gloss measurement on coated surfaces.
What accuracy and resolution does the HP-300 offer?
Reading accuracy is ±1.5 GU (0-120 range) or ±1.5% (120-1200 range). Resolution is 0.1 GU in the standard range or 1 GU at higher values. Repeatability is ±0.2 GU or ±0.2%.
Can the HP-300 work in variable environmental conditions?
Yes. It operates from -10°C to 70°C at humidity below 85% non-condensing. This covers most indoor labs and outdoor field environments.
Is the HP-300 portable for fieldwork?
Yes. It weighs 520 grams, measures 164 mm x 60 mm x 89 mm, and runs on AAA batteries or a power supply cable. These specs make it suitable for both fieldwork and bench inspection.
What measuring area does the HP-300 use?
The measuring area is 9 mm by 15 mm. This allows precise gloss readings on small or detailed sections of coated parts without sampling unnecessarily large areas.
