About this product

The TIME TC600 Rebar Corrosion Detector assesses corrosion of reinforcement in concrete structures using the half-cell potential method. A reference electrode is passed over the concrete surface and the potential voltage difference is recorded, giving a non-destructive indication of how actively the embedded rebar is corroding.

Corrosion of reinforcement is a leading cause of deterioration in concrete bridges, buildings and marine structures, and much of it happens out of sight before any spalling appears. Field potential mapping lets engineers find areas where corrosion is already underway, prioritise repairs and target further investigation, rather than waiting for visible damage.

The TIME TC600 Rebar Corrosion Detector reads potentials across a range of plus or minus 1000mv with a resolution of 1mv, using permanent copper/copper sulphate reference electrodes. The spacing between test points is adjustable from 1 to 100cm, so surveys can be set to the grid resolution a job requires. Readings are held in mass storage and can be stored, viewed, deleted and transferred to a PC over RS232 and USB, then processed as numbers or as grey-scale or full-colour graphics. The main unit of the TIME TC600 Rebar Corrosion Detector weighs 880g and runs on six AA (LR6) batteries from minus 10 to 40 degrees Celsius, with a separate probe of 100g.

Used in corrosion assessment, structural inspection and concrete durability work, the TIME TC600 Rebar Corrosion Detector is supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.

TIME TC600 Rebar Corrosion Detector

The TIME TC600 Rebar Corrosion detector is designed for assessing the corrosion of a reinforced concrete structure and components using the half-cell potential method. The electrode is passed over the surface of the concrete, and the potential voltage difference is recorded, assessing the corrosion of the rebar.

  • Non-destructive testing of the severity of the rebar corrosion.
  • Use Field potential measurement to accurately detect the corrosion condition of the rebar.
  • Store, view, delete and transfer readings to your PC with USB- and serial ports.
  • Process your data as graphics or numbers, improving accuracy and efficiency.
  • Display your measurements as grey-scale or full-colour graphics
  • Permanent Copper/Copper Sulphate reference electrodes that can measure electrical potentials.

Frequently asked questions

What does the TC600 actually measure?

The TC600 measures the voltage potential difference between an electrode and the concrete surface as it passes over the reinforced structure. This potential reading indicates the corrosion status of the embedded rebar.

What is the measuring range and resolution?

The TC600 has a measuring range of ±1000mv with 1mv resolution, enabling precise detection of potential differences across structures.

Can I adjust the spacing between test points?

Yes, spacing between testing points is adjustable from 1 to 100cm, so you can vary your sampling density according to the structure's condition.

Does the TC600 store readings during site surveys?

Yes, it has built-in mass storage, so you can record all measurements directly on the unit without needing external equipment in the field.

How do I transfer data off the device?

The TC600 has RS232 and USB interfaces, allowing you to connect directly to a computer or data system for analysis and documentation.

What are the operating conditions on site?

It operates from -10 to 40°C in relative humidity up to 90%, making it suitable for most site environments. Power is supplied by six AA batteries.
