The Elcometer 204 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge is a pre-calibrated steel ultrasonic thickness gauge that provides a fast, accurate measurement of the thickness of steel. This model has been discontinued and replaced by the MTG range; please contact us for a recommendation of a suitable replacement. The instrument addresses a common inspection need: measuring the remaining wall thickness of steel when there is access to only one side, for example to check corrosion or wear on pipes, tanks and structures without cutting into them.

The gauge works by ultrasound, timing a pulse sent into the steel and reflected back from the far wall to calculate thickness. Being pre-calibrated and supplied with everything required to use straight from the box, it is low cost and easy to use: switch on and take readings. It measures material thickness from one side only, which suits in-service inspection where the back face is not reachable.

The gauge is used in corrosion monitoring, maintenance and inspection work across industries such as petrochemical, marine and structural steel.
