The Elcometer NDT CG10 Corrosion Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge (part number CG10) is a fixed velocity handheld ultrasonic gauge that measures the remaining wall thickness of metal and other materials without cutting into them. This product has been discontinued; contact BAMR for a recommended replacement model.

Ultrasonic corrosion gauges matter because pipes, tanks and structural steel lose wall thickness from the inside as corrosion progresses, and a section that looks sound on the surface can be dangerously thin. The CG10 sends an ultrasonic pulse into the material and times the echo to calculate thickness, letting inspectors track metal loss before a wall fails. It is pre-calibrated to steel for immediate use straight from the box, and holds a single user-programmable velocity, which suits operations where the same material is tested day after day. The supplied software allows that velocity to be changed so other materials can be measured.

The gauge operates in Pulse-Echo mode at 4 readings per second over a measuring range of 0.63 to 500mm, with an accuracy of plus or minus 0.01mm and a resolution of 0.01mm. The velocity calibration range is 1250 to 10,000m/s. It uses a dual element transducer with a 1 to 10MHz frequency range, automatic V-path correction and manual probe zeroing. The aluminium case has gasket-sealed end caps and a waterproof membrane keypad, runs up to 200 hours on 2 AA batteries, and tolerates impact, water, dust and petroleum products.
