About this product

The Elcometer NDT CG60 Corrosion Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge (part number CG60) is a handheld ultrasonic gauge for the NDT inspection of pipes, storage tanks and other metal structures, reading true material thickness through applied coatings. This product has been discontinued; contact BAMR for a recommended replacement model.

Internal corrosion thins the walls of pipes and tanks where it cannot be seen, and on coated assets a standard gauge can mistake paint for sound metal. The CG60 solves this with both Pulse-Echo (PE) and Echo-Echo ThruPaint technology, built to ignore applied coatings up to 2mm thick on metal substrates and return a true material thickness value, which makes it suited to identifying internal corrosion on a coated sample. It carries all the features of the CG50, including high speed scanning at 16 readings per second that holds and displays the lowest thickness found during a pass, differential mode that shows the plus or minus difference from a user-set nominal value, and a minimal thickness alarm with a red LED and audible warning.

The PE measuring range is 0.63 to 500mm and the EE range is 2.54 to 25.4mm, with accuracy of plus or minus 0.1mm and resolution of 0.01mm. The velocity calibration range is 1250 to 10,000m/s, with adjustable gain from minus 30dB to 70dB and a dual element transducer at 1 to 10MHz. The aluminium case runs up to 200 hours on 2 AA batteries. The CG60 was supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer distributor.
