The TH210 Shore D Digital Portable Hardness Tester (now discontinued) is a pocket-sized digital durometer used for Shore D hardness testing of harder materials such as rigid plastics and hard rubbers. Shore D readings confirm whether a material has the firmness a specification calls for, a check that supports quality control during manufacture and on incoming goods.

The unit has an integrated probe and takes readings directly on the sample, shown on a bright, clear LCD. It measures across the Shore D range of 0 to 100HD with a display resolution of 0.2 unit, and within 20 to 90HD carries an error of plus or minus 1HD. The display gives the hardness result, the average value, the peak value held by the lock function and a battery indication. An RS232 output transfers data to a PC, and the meter switches off automatically and gives a low-battery indication and alarm.

Power is from three 1.55V SR44 button batteries, or a 4.5V AC/DC adaptor, giving about 300 hours of continuous use. The instrument measures 173 x 56 x 42mm and weighs 233g. It can be used in accordance with DIN 53505, ASTM D 2240, ISO 7619 and JIS K7215. An optional operating stand applies a constant, even force to improve accuracy and repeatability.
