About this product

The Elcometer FV Flat Valve (part numbers FV-B for the PED version and FV-N for the ASME version) is an abrasive metering valve for blast machines, designed for use with mineral abrasives. The Elcometer FV Flat Valve controls the flow of abrasive from the blast pot to the hose, giving precise metering so less media is wasted during blasting. Poor metering wastes abrasive and gives an inconsistent blast, so accurate, repeatable control of media flow keeps both running costs and surface quality under control.

The Elcometer FV Flat Valve uses a 45 degree inclined design to produce a uniform mixture of air and abrasive, with durable steel control discs that meter the abrasive quantity. It is manufactured from high grade, non-corrosive aluminium, and the lever handle, with a locking nut, lets the operator set and hold how far the media valve is open. An easy access service port allows the Elcometer FV Flat Valve to be cleared when it clogs.

Maintenance is straightforward: the steel control discs of the Elcometer FV Flat Valve can be replaced in minutes in the field using standard tools, and service kits are available for simple upkeep of the Elcometer FV Flat Valve. The Elcometer FV Flat Valve is offered in two versions, the compact Elcometer Mini Flat Valve for the Elcometer 1020 blast machine and the larger Elcometer Flat Valves that fit most abrasive blast machines on the market. Used in surface preparation and abrasive blasting operations, and supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer distributor.

Which blast pot models are compatible with the FV Flat Valve?

The FV Flat Valve is available in full assembly form for the Elcometer 1440, 1460, 20100, 24200, and 24285. Contact BAMR to confirm compatibility with your existing system or to arrange an assembly for your pot model.

How does the flat valve design reduce abrasive wastage?

The FV Flat Valve provides precise metering of mineral abrasive flow from the blast pot to the hose. This controlled delivery minimises spillage and overfeeding, lowering the amount of abrasive you need to reorder.

Are spare parts available for the FV Flat Valve?

Yes. Individual parts such as plates, gaskets, handles, and fasteners are stocked as separate line items. Two service kits are available: FV Service Kit 1 (MT30153) and FV Service Kit 2 (MT30053), each containing the most commonly replaced wear items.

What connection options does the FV Flat Valve offer?

The valve is supplied with multiple thread options. Standard versions include 1.5 BSP and 1.25 BSP connections. NPT variants are also available (1.25 Male NPT and others) if your system uses imperial thread fittings.

Can I retrofit the FV Flat Valve to an existing blast setup?

Yes. The FV is designed to integrate with pusher line assemblies and 45° mixers already in service. Spare pusher line assemblies (part MT28609 series) are available separately, and gaskets plus fasteners are stocked to support installation.
