The Elcometer 415 Industrial Paint and Powder Thickness Gauge is a hand-held dry film thickness gauge for fast, accurate measurement of smooth, thin industrial paint and powder coatings on metal. On a production line or QA station, coating that is too thin fails to protect and coating that is too thick wastes material and can cause finish defects, so quick reliable thickness readings keep the finishing process within specification and output moving.
The Elcometer 415 Industrial Paint & Powder Thickness Gauge reads at 60 or more readings per minute and automatically switches between ferrous and non-ferrous substrates on FNF models. It measures cured paint and powder coatings from 0 to 1000 microns to an accuracy of plus or minus 1 to 3% or 2.5 microns, with 1 point and 2 point calibration to stay accurate on smooth and thin coated surfaces. The auto-rotating colour display gives a clear reading at any angle and shows the number of readings, average, lowest and highest values. The case is scratch, solvent and powder resistant, equivalent to IP64, and the gauge runs from two AA batteries or via USB. The 415 is available as Model B and Model T, the difference being live data output: Model B outputs via USB, while Model T adds Bluetooth, transferring readings live to ElcoMaster software and the ElcoMaster Mobile App on PC, Android or iOS for instant report generation.
It can be used in accordance with standards including ISO 2178, ISO 2360, ISO 2808, ASTM B 499, ASTM D 7091, ASTM E 376 and EN 13523-1. Used in industrial paint and powder coating, manufacturing and quality control, it is supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer distributor.

When to use the Elcometer 415 Thickness Gauge
QC staff reach for the 415 to check cured paint and powder coatings on smooth, thin industrial parts at high throughput. It is built for fast, repeated checks where the substrate switches between ferrous and non-ferrous.
- 1High throughput inspectionAt 60 plus readings per minute it cuts inspection time on production lines where many parts must be checked quickly.
- 2No substrate switching neededIt automatically switches between ferrous and non-ferrous substrates, so a mixed batch of parts can be checked without changing settings.
- 3Suited to thin coatingsOne and two point calibration ensures accuracy on smooth and thin coated substrates up to 1000 microns, where calibration errors would otherwise creep in.
- 4Reporting from the gaugeLive data transfers via USB or Bluetooth to ElcoMaster for instant report generation, so results feed straight into QC records.
