The Elcometer 134 CSN - Chlorides, Sulphates & Nitrates (E134-CSN) is a single field kit for measuring surface chloride, sulphate and nitrate ions in minutes. Soluble salt contamination left on a surface before coating draws moisture and drives premature corrosion and coating failure, so quantifying these ions before painting is a key step in surface cleanliness assessment.
All components in the CSN Salts kit are pre-measured and pre-dosed for trouble free testing, and results are read directly in parts per million, so no complicated calculations are required. Each test is built to use a 1:1 ratio, which makes conversion to µg/cm² straightforward. The kit measures from 0 to 100µg/cm² (0 to 100ppm) with a scale resolution of 1µg/cm² (1ppm), and a sample takes approximately 1 to 5 minutes.
Supplied in an ABS plastic carry case, the Elcometer 134 CSN - Chlorides, Sulphates & Nitrate weighs 1.76kg, measures 360 x 320 x 140mm and should be stored at temperatures not exceeding 25°C. The Elcometer 134 CSN can be used in accordance with ISO 8502-5, ISO 8502-11 and SSPC Guide 15, the recognised methods for assessing soluble salt contamination prior to coating.
