About this product

The 8910 Anemometer is a hand-held multi-function meter that monitors wind speed, temperature, wind-chill, relative humidity, dew point, heat index, barometric pressure, altitude and approaching storms. Bringing these readings together in one pocket instrument means an operator can judge the working environment, from ventilation air speed to the climatic conditions that govern outdoor work, without carrying several separate devices.

Wind speed is measured from 1.1 to 20 m/s with accuracy of plus or minus 3% and a one second response, and can be displayed in Beaufort, knots, metres per second, miles per hour, feet per minute or kilometres per hour, with current, maximum and average modes. Temperature covers -15 to 50 degrees C at plus or minus 1 degree C, relative humidity runs 0 to 100% RH at plus or minus 3%, and barometric pressure spans 400 to 1,100 hPa at plus or minus 3 hPa. Altitude is measured from -600 to 7,000 metres to plus or minus 25 metres. Dew point, wind-chill and heat index are derived with accuracies of plus or minus 2, 1 and 3 degrees C respectively.

A 0 to -16 hour bar chart shows how air pressure has developed over the last 16 hours to help forecast weather, and built-in alarms give a storm warning. The sealed precision thermistor and humidity sensor of the 8910 Anemometer sit in a water resistant, shock proof, pocket-knife style housing with a replaceable lithium battery and impeller and a low battery indicator. The 8910 Anemometer is supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor of precision measurement and inspection instruments.

When to use the 8910 Anemometer

Reach for this hand-held meter when you need more than wind speed on site, such as judging weather conditions before outdoor work. Alongside wind speed it reads temperature, wind-chill, humidity, dew point, heat index, barometric pressure and altitude, with a 16-hour pressure trend to forecast incoming weather. It suits anyone monitoring climatic conditions in the field.

  • 1
    Many readings in one meter
Wind speed, temperature, humidity, dew point, heat index, pressure and altitude in a single device means you are not carrying separate instruments to assess conditions.
  • 2
    Forecasts incoming weather
The 16-hour barometric pressure trend chart and storm alarm warn of changing weather before it disrupts outdoor coating or blasting work.
  • 3
    Rugged, pocketable build
Water-resistant and shock-proof housing with a pocket-knife design and replaceable battery and impeller suits repeated field use and easy carrying.

Frequently asked questions

What parameters does the 8910 Anemometer measure?

The 8910 measures wind speed, temperature, wind chill, relative humidity, dew point, heat index, barometric pressure, and altitude. It also monitors for upcoming storms.

What wind speed scales and range does the instrument support?

Wind speed can be displayed in Beaufort, knots, metres per second, miles per hour, feet per minute, or kilometres per hour. The range is 1.1 to 20 m/s (equivalent to 1 to 8 Beaufort or 0.8 to 72 km/h).

What is the altitude measurement range and accuracy?

Altitude is measured from minus 274 to plus 2,743 metres, with a resolution of 1 metre.

What are the accuracy specifications for humidity and atmospheric pressure?

Relative humidity accuracy is plus or minus 3% RH over 0 to 100% RH. Atmospheric pressure accuracy is plus or minus 3 hPa from minus 10 to 60 degrees Celsius, over a range of 400 to 1,100 hPa.

Does the 8910 record historical data?

Yes. The instrument recalls 16 hours of trend history for atmospheric pressure, which can be used to assess whether a storm is approaching.
