
The Leica DISTO S910 is a laser distance meter that measures distances and angles between any two points from a single position, at a range of up to 300m. It solves a recurring problem in as-built documentation and roof measurement, where reaching the second point of a dimension is awkward or impossible: the S910 lets you stand in one place, capture the points and read the result, then feed the data into BIM or CAD software for 3D visualisation. This product is discontinued.
The key hardware is SmartBase, a biaxial pivot integrated with the circuit board, which combined with a more powerful laser, a 360 degree tilt sensor and new software allows the S910 to measure distances and angles between multiple points. It was the first laser distance meter to capture multiple accurate measurements in three dimensions from one location. The SmartBase vertical range is -40 degrees to 80 degrees and the horizontal range is 360 degrees, both with sensor tolerance up to plus or minus 0.1 degrees. Point to point tolerance is approximately plus or minus 2mm at 2m, 5mm at 5m and 10mm at 10m.
Performance is certified to ISO 16331-1, the standard for testing laser distance meters under real working conditions, with accuracy of 1.0mm and range of 0.05m to 300m in favourable conditions, and 2.0mm and 0.05m to 150m in unfavourable conditions. X-Range Technology is fitted. Used in construction, surveying and fit-out. Supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.
