The Boron Carbide Venturi Nozzle with Aluminium Jacket and Rubber Sleeve (MT28418 and MT28439 series) is an abrasive blast nozzle with a liner made from hot-pressed boron carbide. The Boron Carbide Venturi Nozzle directs and accelerates abrasive in a blast cleaning system, and its venturi bore shapes the abrasive stream for an efficient blast pattern. Nozzle wear is a constant cost in blast cleaning, so the boron carbide liner, which offers chemical and wear resistance, is suited to hard abrasives such as garnet, aluminium oxide and steel grit passing through at speed.
The aluminium jacket keeps the Boron Carbide Venturi Nozzle lightweight and adds heat and corrosion resistance, while the rubber sleeve absorbs shock and helps preserve the internal liner against knocks. Each Boron Carbide Venturi Nozzle is supplied with a rubber gasket for sealing to the nozzle holder.
Sizes of the Boron Carbide Venturi Nozzle run from No. 3 to No. 8, with orifice diameters from 4.8mm up to 12.5mm, lengths from 135mm to 220mm and a 32mm entry diameter throughout. XL versions in the MT28439 series extend the length to 350mm. Nozzles are available with a 51mm Contractor thread (C part numbers) or a 32mm NPSM thread (N part numbers). The range for the Boron Carbide Venturi Nozzle conforms to PED and ASME requirements. Used in surface preparation, coatings, corrosion and marine work, and supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor of Elcometer instruments.
Boron Carbide Venturi Nozzle with Aluminium Jacket and Rubber Sleeve
Featuring a liner made from hot-pressed boron carbide, this abrasive blast nozzle offers chemical and wear resistance properties, making it ideal for abrasives such as garnet, aluminium oxide and steel grit to enter the nozzle. As well as being heat and corrosion resistant, the nozzle's aluminium jacket makes it lightweight and its rubber sleeve is shock absorbent, preserving the internal liner. The abrasive blast nozzles are supplied with a rubber gasket.

Frequently asked questions
Which thread specification do I need - 52mm Contractor or NPSM?
This model is available in both 52mm Contractor Thread (C variants) and NPSM Thread (N variants). Check your blast equipment connection type to select the correct specification for your setup.
What orifice sizes are available?
Orifice diameters range from 4.8mm (#3) to 12.5mm (#8). Your selection depends on the abrasive type and flow requirements of your coating inspection operation.
Can I use this nozzle with garnet, aluminium oxide, and steel grit?
Yes. The boron carbide liner is designed for these abrasives. Its chemical and wear resistance properties make it well suited to standard coating inspection media.
What is the extra-length (XL) variant used for?
XL variants extend to 350mm, compared to standard lengths of 135-220mm. This allows you to reach deeper or recessed blast areas whilst maintaining the same thread type and orifice diameter.
How does the rubber sleeve protect the nozzle?
The rubber sleeve is shock absorbent and wraps the aluminium jacket to shield the internal boron carbide liner from impact damage. This protects the nozzle during handling and extends its operational life.
