The Elcometer Protective Coating Inspection Kit 3 (part numbers YKIT-PROTECTIVE-3SM and YKIT-PROTECTIVE-3TM) is a packaged set of test equipment for assessing a substrate before a coating is applied, covering surface profile, climatic conditions, coating thickness and adhesion. These are the pre-application checks that decide whether a coating holds, since the wrong profile, dewpoint margin or adhesion will lead to failure once the structure is in service.
The Elcometer Protective Coating Inspection Kit 3 is built around digital instruments. It includes the Elcometer 224 integral digital surface profile gauge, the Elcometer 319 digital dewpoint meter for climatic conditions, the Elcometer 107 cross hatch cutter and the Elcometer 115 wet film comb set of four, and the Elcometer 456 digital coating thickness gauge for dry film thickness. The 3SM variant of the Elcometer Protective Coating Inspection Kit 3 uses the basic Elcometer 224 and standard Elcometer 456, while the 3TM variant steps up to the top Elcometer 224 and top Elcometer 456. Both ship with ElcoMaster software on CD and a USB cable, so readings can be downloaded, logged and reported. The carry case of the Elcometer Protective Coating Inspection Kit 3 measures 456 x 384 x 127mm.
The Elcometer Protective Coating Inspection Kit 3 can be used in accordance with a wide range of standards, including SSPC PA 2, NACE RP0287, ASTM D 4417-C and ASTM D 4414-A, ASTM D 3359-B and ISO 2409 for adhesion, ASTM D 7091 and ISO 2360 for dry film thickness, plus ISO, AS/NZS, EN, BS, DIN, NF, JIS, IMO and US Navy references, letting inspectors report against the codes a project specifies. Used in coatings inspection across marine, structural and protective coating work, the Elcometer Protective Coating Inspection Kit 3 is supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer distributor.
