The Elcometer 3580 Casting Knife Film Applicators are anodised aluminium hand applicators with a bevelled blade applicator body, made for manually applying thick, high viscosity fluids onto solid, flat substrates. Extended sides confine the coating during application, which makes the Elcometer 3580 Casting Knife Film Applicators a practical laboratory gauge for casting controlled films.

Consistent film thickness is what allows coating tests to be repeated and compared: an uneven or uncontrolled draw-down produces results that cannot be trusted between samples or operators.
