The Elcometer 4695 Plain White and Plain Black Charts are Leneta test charts used for informal brushout work, drawdowns and colourimetric measurements in coatings testing. They give inspectors and formulators a controlled contrasting substrate on which to assess how well a coating hides the surface beneath it, which is the basis for judging opacity, colour and film application consistency before a paint or coating is signed off.

The charts are made from naturally bright, non-fluorescent white paper that contains no optical brighteners, so they cannot distort instrumental colour measurements. The Plain White and Plain Black variants use a thicker paper stock, with a nominal thickness of 0.5mm, giving greater rigidity and easier handling when coatings are applied by brush or roller. They are supplied in boxes and cases across several sizes, including the Leneta Chart WDX at 98 x 152 mm (500 per box, part numbers K0004695M102 box and K0004695M302 case), the WA at 140 x 254 mm, the WF at 76 x 184 mm and the WK at 219 x 286 mm. The charts can be run with the Elcometer 4340 Motorised Film Applicator for repeatable drawdowns.

The Elcometer 4695 charts can be used in accordance with AS/NZS 1580.213.1, ASTM D 344, ASTM D2805, ASTM D 2486, ASTM D 5150, ASTM D 6441, BS 3900-D4, DIN 53162-2, FTMS 141 4121 and ISO 2814, the recognised methods for hiding power, film application and colour evaluation. They are supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.
