About this product

The Elcometer 2400 Viscosity Disc (Viscosity Conversion Disc) is a simple slide-rule style conversion table that lets viscosity values and flow-cup times be compared and converted. Different flow cups report results as a flow time in seconds rather than an absolute viscosity, and each cup type uses its own scale, so a quick way to translate between them and into viscosity in centistokes saves recalculation and avoids confusion when work crosses different cup standards.

The Elcometer 2400 Viscosity Disc allows viscosity, usually recorded in cSt, and flow times, recorded in seconds, to be read off against one another. The front of the Elcometer 2400 Viscosity Disc covers No. 4 cups according to BS, NF, ASTM, DIN and Zahn 2. The reverse covers No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 cups according to ISO and Zahn 3, as well as Gardner Bubble Viscometers.

The Elcometer 2400 Viscosity Disc is used in paint and ink manufacturing and coatings quality control as a companion to flow cups such as the Elcometer Zahn range. The Elcometer 2400 Viscosity Disc is supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised Elcometer distributor.

When to use the Elcometer 2400 Viscosity Disc

Paint and coatings labs record viscosity in centistokes but the shop floor reads flow time in seconds, and different cups give different numbers. This disc is a simple conversion table that lets you compare those readings without a chart or spreadsheet to hand.

    • 1
      Converts flow time to viscosity
It turns a flow time in seconds into viscosity in centistokes on the spot, which saves looking up a table every time a result needs to be reported in cSt.
    • 2
      Reconciles readings across cup types
One face covers No. 4 cups to BS, NF, ASTM, DIN and Zahn 2, the other covers No. 3 to 6 cups to ISO and Zahn 3, so a reading taken on one cup can be compared with another.
    • 3
      Extends to Gardner viscometers
The reverse also covers Gardner Bubble Viscometers, so comparisons are not limited to flow cups alone.
