The Elcometer 212 Digital Pocket Thermometer (part numbers G212---1A and G212---2A) is a pocket-sized digital thermometer for day-to-day temperature checks, available with either a liquid probe or a surface probe. In coatings work, surface and material temperature are climatic conditions that decide whether a coating can be applied: if the surface is too cold or too hot relative to the paint data sheet, the coating can fail to cure or adhere properly, so a quick, reliable temperature reading is part of routine pre-application checks.

A fast-response stainless steel K-type thermocouple probe returns a reading in under four seconds. The measuring range of the Elcometer 212 Digital Pocket Thermometer is -49.9 to +299.9 degrees C, user selectable, with resolution settable to 0.1 or 1 degree C and accuracy of plus or minus 0.4 degrees C up to 199.9 degrees C and plus or minus 1 degree C above that. The liquid-probe variant (G212---1A) suits immersion in fluids, while the surface-probe variant (G212---2A) reads solid surfaces. The case is water resistant, with integrated rubber seals and a moulded flush window that keeps dirt and leaks away from the 14mm LCD display, and the probe folds back into the side of the body to protect it when not in use. Two CR2032 batteries give around 1500 hours of use, with a 10-minute auto switch off, in a 153mm body weighing 97g.
