The Digital Balemaster Moisture Meter (part number GRN6170) is a handheld instrument for measuring moisture in baled hay, straw and tobacco. Its stainless steel probe is 558mm long and 10mm in diameter, allowing readings to be taken right at the centre of large bales. Excess moisture in stored bales causes discolouration and supports the growth of moulds and fungi, so checking moisture during baling and before storage helps prevent spoilage and the risks associated with damp material.
Readings are shown on a large LCD digital display and reinforced by a colour arc LED display that signals the moisture condition at a glance: green for dry, yellow for at risk and red for wet. The Digital Balemaster Moisture Meter measures from 8.5% to 36.8%, with dry covering 8.5 to 15%, at risk 15.1 to 19.5% and wet 19.6 to 36.8%. A user-adjustable audible tone gives an additional indication of moisture conditions.
The Digital Balemaster Moisture Meter connects to the Protimeter Connect App over Bluetooth, so readings can be saved and downloaded with time and date stamps for record keeping. The Digital Balemaster Moisture Meter operates from 0 to 50 degrees C, weighs 228g without its battery, and runs on a single 9V battery with a condition indicator.
