The DM4A Paper Moisture Meter, from Max Doser, is a pocket-sized handheld instrument that measures moisture in paper non-destructively. BAMR supplies the DM4A Paper Moisture Meter as a popular choice for paper because it has a digital display and no pins, so the surface is not damaged by the measurement. Knowing the moisture in paper and cardboard matters for quality control, since out-of-spec moisture affects printing, conversion and storage, and the DM4A Paper Moisture Meter gives a reading in seconds by touch alone.
In use, the material is touched against the Paper Moisture Meter and the average percentage moisture appears on the display, at roughly one reading every two seconds, with no drilling or sample preparation. The measuring field of the DM4A Paper Moisture Meter penetrates approximately 30mm into the material, so moisture in lower-lying layers is obtainable rather than just surface moisture. Although it is supplied for paper, the DM4A Paper Moisture Meter is a universal moisture meter that also reads wood, building materials, cardboard and many other materials. Microprocessor-controlled measurement with automatic zero point correction keeps readings consistent, and the adjusted material group is set on a membrane keypad and shown in the display.
The DM4A Paper Moisture Meter stores up to 100 moisture values and automatically calculates maximum, average and minimum. Fixed linearisation curves for common materials are pre-stored, and up to 10 customer-specific curves with up to 8 programmable points each can be added, while calibration can be checked with the optional PE05 and PE30 modules. The DM4A Paper Moisture Meter conforms to DIN EN 50081-2, an electromagnetic compatibility standard for EC rating, and is supplied in a foam-lined pouch with instructions. Supplied by BAMR, South Africa's authorised distributor.

When to use the Paper Moisture Meters
Checking moisture in paper or board is awkward when the stock has to stay saleable and unmarked. BAMR supplies the DM4A from Max Doser, a pocket meter that reads in seconds with no pins to pierce the surface.
- 1Leaves no marks on the stockPush and read with no pins means you can check finished or saleable paper without holes, so the sheet you tested is not rejected.
- 2Reaches deeper layersPenetration of approximately 30mm reads moisture in lower layers of a stack rather than the top surface alone.
- 3Matched to your materialsStored linearisation curves for common materials plus up to 10 customer-specific curves let you set the meter to the exact material you handle most.
- 4Keeps a record across a batchStorage for 100 values with automatic maximum, average and minimum supports batch checks where you need a record rather than one reading.
